Lately

I always have the best intentions to keep up with my blog and clearly it doesn't happen... However, I love nothing more than looking back and seeing what was going on.. even if its in big quarterly updates.. or so :) So how about our quarterly update?

July

Adam plays on my Company's softball league team.. I am team mom since I lack athletic ability.. and the team won the championship! We enjoyed getting the big W in late July.

Adam and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary with a fun dinner at a Taste of Texas! I highly recommend this place! They were great.

August
The Heinzes came to visit us in Houston! We had a blast with little Wyatt and our great friends!

David moved to Houston in early August!
I finally made it to Harry Potter World! My company held training in Orlando so my coworker Katherine and I had a girls weekend full of nerdy park fun!

Right after training, we had a great relaxing weekend with friends and family in Matagorda!

Not too soon after the beach trip.. I went near the Gulf again.. but this time the Persian Gulf in Dubai. Dubai was a work trip but we had time for some fun. Definitely enjoyed all the experiences.

Burj Khalifa- Tallest building in the world

Got to go skiing in only indoor skiing in the world. Leave it to Dubai to be both the hottest and coldest! :)

My coworker and I embraced the culture.

Most amazing views in Dubai.

September
After some rest,  Adam and I finally made it back to LBK for a football game. We were excited to see the start of the Kingsbury era and see the first Big 12 game of the season against TCU. We had a great time with close friends! I was also able to visit the Tech campus and see some of the newest additions!

Panoramic picture of the stadium with all the upgrades!

Newest Business school building is oh so nice!

The Tech ring!

I even got to meet up with Vicki! I miss my old fave coworker!

Adam went teal hunting and we got to enjoy the delicious food while celebrating Ben's 40th anniversary!
Last but not least! My bestie had her baby, Sophia, and I got to meet her!

The Painting Bug

After hosting Thanksgiving, Adam and I's painting/home updating inspiration came to a complete stop. This was great for our bank account but maybe not for the house. It took half a year but we finally got the painting bug and operation get pink out was back on! The last couple of months we finished painting the formal dining room, the kitchen/breakfast nook, and the living room. We also started fixing up our bedroom and bathroom (we gotta finish it up) and to get started on the man cave!

Some of our progress.. eventually I will actually show pictures of the house fixed up.. with furniture :)

Finishing up the formal dining room

Living room

We got a little crazy with an accent wall.

Really like the green!

Fixed up the dining room kitchen area with a darker color. Before lighter blah color..

Before
We also fixed up the outside lights since one didn't work and they could use an uplift!

After

Yay for new welcoming front of the house!

Other sneak peeks..

The hubster decided the stairs needed some contrast..  They are black now instead of white!

The second bedroom upstairs is being painted.. not best picture.. but rest assure operation get pink out was a success!
Operation get pink out in our master bedroom.. Please excuse the bedroom mess.
We Hubby got fancy with crown molding!
We added some accent color to our closet area...

And added the fun stencil to our bedroom!

New York City

Adam and I have decided pretty early on in our marriage (the almost two years of it) that we want to make sure we take a fun anniversary trip every year. Last year we went to NOLA and it was a blast! We are hoping to venture out to Europe next year so we are in money saving mode a.k.a no big trip this year. At the beginning of June however, I received news that I would be travelling to NYC for a couple of days in a few weeks. Adam went to NYC pre 9/11 and I have never been... so work trip turned into mini vacay/anniversary vacay all in one!

I got to hang out with my good ol coworker/work out buddy Natalie who moved to NYC last year! Too bad the Spurs did not deliver that evening.

Adam and I found this little bar near our hotel called White Horse Tavern.. the special was a 16 oz PBR and a shot of well liquor (which turned out to be a clear whiskey.. or so Adam said).. The bartender was Irish and had the best accent.. clearly we loved this place.

I could not get enough of the hydrangeas and the amazing weather! We got extremely lucky and were able to  take a break from the extreme heat of Texas.

We unfortunately were unable to go unto Ellis Island to visit the Statue Of Liberty since it was closed due to work done for Storm Sandy. We missed it by like two weeks... But there will have to be a next time.

Gotta love Tiffany's! Adam would not let me walk in...

We stumbled upon a Swedish Midsummer festival. We had to show off Adam's Swedish pride!

9/11 Memorial was amazing and well done.

Grand Central Station

Times Square

Central Park

Here's to year TWO!

One of my favorite parts was getting to see the Phantom of the Opera Broadway show. AMAZING!

Adam was a great trooper and kept up with all my crazy shenanigans that I wanted to get done in so little time! He is definitely a keeper!
